The Mindfulness Now Programme
Individual 1-to-1 or group sessions in mindfulness-based practices
The Mindfulness Now programme is aimed at individuals and groups, adults and children, with many requirements including helping with stress and anxiety, physical and emotional pain, as well as emotional resilience. The programme is an original mindfulness teaching programme that offers a fully inclusive and adaptable approach to teaching whilst incorporating some key elements from both MBSR and MBCT in a clinical trauma informed approach which is simple to integrate with other therapeutic approaches.
The Mindfulness Now programme is fully adaptable and assessible to meet the needs of different participants. The Mindfulness Now programme can work over 8 sessions but can also work well arranged over a smaller number of sessions. It works well delivered one to one, or even informally via drop in type group.

Nick Cooke is the founder of the Mindfulness Now Programme and has over 40 years of mindfulness and meditation practice experience. Originally working in the corporate world before training as a psychotherapist in his twenties, Nick spent many years supporting clients while continuing his own deep meditation practice. Following his own experiences of trauma, long-term illness, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and cancer, mindfulness became a lifeline that helped him navigate suffering with greater compassion and acceptance. Through these experiences, Nick developed the Mindfulness Now approach — an adaptable, trauma-informed, and person-centred way of teaching mindfulness that recognises every individual’s journey is unique. First taught in Birmingham, UK around the year 2000, the programme has since reached people around the world. Nick’s vision continues to be making mindfulness as accessible, compassionate, and inclusive as possible for everyone.
Mindfulness Now is an original programme which includes key elements of mindfulness-based approaches including the evidence-based Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). The latter, developed by Professor Mark Williams and colleagues at the University of Oxford, offers a breakthrough in the treatment of depression, anxiety and emotional trauma, and is recommended by NICE as a treatment of choice for depression.
In 1979 Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre – Stress Reduction Clinic developed a psycho-educational programme called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) which provides an integration of mindfulness meditation with proven psychotherapeutic approaches into an accessible and evidence-based approach which has been taught worldwide.
The Mindfulness Now Programme offers a secular, adaptable and accessible approach to teaching mindfulness, proudly leading the way in delivering trauma informed mindfulness and is constantly evolving and moving forward following latest research to meet the ever changing needs of a diverse society.
